Breguet. A Rare Rose Gold Keywind Cylinder Date Pocket Watch C1830s.

Dial: This supberb silver dial signed Breguet with the centre cartouche finely engine turned, the outer silver ring engraved with Roman numerals and outer minute track. The subsidiary date dial is located at the eight o'clock and the the subsidiary seconds dial is located at the four o'clock. The beautiful original Breguet blued steel moon hands and matching blued steel sub dial hands. Under the dial bears the dial makers stamp of E & LF and the serial number of the watch.

Case: The Rose Gold case back has an oval vacant cartouche with a sunburst effect radiating out from the cartouche. The inner cover is made from brass which is signed Breguet a Paris. The centre hole is for setting the hands which is beautifully engraved with Breguet style moon hands. The other hole is for winding the watch which has an arrow engraved showing which direction to wind the watch. The case is stamped 18K and bears the case maker's mark CHL.

Movement: The simplistic key wound cylinder movement with hanging barrel and original maltese winding still in tact. This was a safety feature so that the watch could not be over wound. The movement is unsigned.

This watch is an excellent copy of an original Breguet Pocket Watch which was sold in March 1822 to General Davidoff for 4,500 French Francs, A princely sum of money in those days. None the less this watch has been very well made by someone impersonating Breguet, taking due care to fool a would be client into buying this lovely watch.
