James McCabe. A Rare Eight Day Marine Chronometer C1840

This Antique Eight Day Marine Chronometer, is a rare timepiece which was initially used by the British military, before being sold to the Indian government.

The silvered dial has roman numerals, a small seconds display with a blued steel hand and an eight-day power reserve indicator.

Other features of this extraordinary timepiece include a fixed brass bezel, mineral glass, an Earnshaw spring detent with Helical Hair Spring, Key wind fusee movement and the cut bimetallic balance with segmental heat compensation weights and four timing screws

In excellent condition, this 8 Day Marine Chronometer comes with a James McCabe mahogany box. There are also records to show that this Chronometer was sold to the Indian Navy
