Philippe Cafarello Dufalga Geneve: A Rare and Important Gold Pair Case Quarter Repeater and Repeater A Toc, Diamond and Enamel Pair Case Pocket Watch C1780.

Dial: The excellent unsigned white enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer minute track with Arabic Numerals at five minute intervals. The rare original intricate filigree diamond set hands complementing the rest of the watch.

Case: The watch is made up of two gold cases which is called pair case. The outer case has a beautifully painted enamel scene of Abraham offering up a sacrificial lamb surrounded by maidens. The front bezel is fully set with rose cut diamonds, the pusher to open the case has a big rose cut diamond set. The case is embellished with green gold garlands on the edge. The inner case has been chased and beautifully cut so the sound of the bell can be heard very clearly when the pendant is depressed. The pendant is also set with a large rose cut diamond.

Movement: The inner case opens to reveal a movement which has it's original dustcover signed Dufalga Geneve. The big steel bell is housed in the inner case. When the dust cover is removed, it reveals a beautiful keywind fussee with verge escapement movement fully signed. The repeater mechanism works perfectly.

Philippe Cafarello came to Geneva from Paris, where he was naturalized in 1745. He was known for the production of luxury watches. He worked in Geneva and in Paris, which would explain the two signatures "Dufalga à Paris" and "Dufalga à Genève" This watch is an excellent example of his work as it is in pristine condition.
