Patek Philippe. A Rare and Unique Gold Keyless Lever Open Face Chronograph Date Pocket Watch C1868.

Dial: The superb white enamel dial with Roman numerals with one fifth second painted minute circle around the dial. The subsidiary seconds dial is located at the three o'clock position which is very unusual in itself and the subsidiary date dial is located at the nine o'clock position. The original blued steel moon hands and matching blued steel chronograph centre second hand with original seconds hand and date hand.

Case: The 18ct yellow gold case with a monogram engraved to the back cover. The inner cover is engraved with the number and is engraved Invention and Execution by Patek Philippe & Co Geneve. The cases are all Swiss hallmarked, numbered and stamped PP.C. The chronograph button is located at two o'clock and the locking slide for the chronograph button is located at three o'clock.

Movement: This truly is a masterpiece of Patek engineering. The intricate chronograph mechanism is fully visable on the backplate, with compensation balance. blued hairspring, fast slow regulation and wolfs teeth winding. The movement is unsigned as was common for early Patek Philippe watches.

This truly unique rare and important early Patek Philippe pocket watch with date and chronograph having Extract of Archives showing that the watch was made in 1868 and sold on the 8th July 1871.
