Rare Rolex Perpetual Chronometer Cioccolatone 4645

A rare vintage Rolex Perpetual Chronometer Officially Certified Ref. 4645 “Cioccolatone”, an exceptional example of Rolex’s post-war creativity. This striking timepiece features its original black dial with applied dagger style indices, pyramid-style markers at 3 and 9 o’clock, Arabic numeral at 12, and subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, housed within a distinctive 31mm square cushion-shaped 18k yellow gold case.

This reference stands out as one of the few Rolex models to feature a self-winding movement outside of the iconic Oyster case and is among the earliest “Officially Certified Chronometers,” a distinction proudly displayed on the dial at 6 o’clock.

The “Cioccolatone” is also known for its distinctive square case with stepped sides and straight lugs, attributes beautifully preserved in this example.

Fitted with a mineral glass, a generic black lizard leather strap and a gold-plated pin buckle.
